Cesar Pérez Sentenat

Three important teachers who made a considerable effort, since the beginning until mid-twentieth century, by the implementation of the highest standards in academic formation of Cuban pianists. Two of them, César Pérez Sentenat (1896-1973) and Margot Rojas (1903-1996) lived and worked in Havana, and another teacher, Dulce María Serret (1898 - 1989) of Santiago de Cuba

Teacher, pianist and composer. Havana, 18 November 1896-4 May 1973. He studied music theory with Professor José Molina, and piano with Antonio Saavedra, Rafael Serrano and Hubert Blanck.

From 1913 to 1922 he studied in Paris with teachers Joaquín Nin Castellanos and Saint-Requier, the Schola Cantorum. Return to Cuba in 1922 itself and begins at the National Conservatory as professor of piano and harmony. Participate with Gonzalo Roig and Ernesto Lecuona in the founding of the Symphony Orchestra of Havana , and acts as a pianist and secretary general of the same.

In 1924 is along Amadeo Roldán Philharmonic Orchestra when he founded Havana . For fifteen years he taught piano Municipal Conservatory of Havana.

In 1931 is appointed director of the center. Roland works with the founding of the Normal School of Music in Havana . In 1945 he was appointed provincial inspector of music in Havana and in 1949 Inspector General Music Ministry of Education, a position he held until 1952.
After the triumph of the revolution, get the chair of piano and direction of Guillermo Tomás Conservatory in Guanabacoa in 1961. In 1965 he was appointed music director general of the National Council of Culture (CNC), and chairman of the Committee on Reform of Music Education. He gave piano concerts.

Cesar Perez Sentenat His musical production was small and was directed with didactic sense and structural simplicity, framed nationalism with emphasis on rural areas. Among his piano works are "Cuban Suite in G minor," "Preludes in all shades", "Four pictures for a pioneer," for voice and piano, "Martianas", "Three peasant songs", "carol Triptych Cubans." This last work was a recording disk in the early 50's.
